Major Purpose:
Plans, coordinates and performs Precision Metrology work.
Major Duties
Metrology Systems:
• Coordinate Measuring Machine systems support and programming
• Metrology (Metrolog XG) application training and support
Simulation:
• Simulation (SILMA XG) training, support, and programming in the use of Offline CMM programming tools
• Work station systems support
• Provides functionality feedback to business partners for enhancement and development
Analysis:
• Statistical application support of Statistica and John Deere Quality View
• Conduct JDQView education sessions.
Position-specific Responsibilities
• Provide consulting to Manufacturing and Engineering to develop solutions to dimensional metrology problems.
• Conduct metrology education classes to help Deere employee apply Metrology, simulation and Analysis tools: Statistica, JDQView, SILMA, Metrolog
Qualifications
Required:
• Four-year degree in an Engineering/Technology discipline; Industrial, Mechanical, Agricultural, Precision Metrology/Manufacturing preferred
• Three years of experience with quality and manufacturing engineering
• Comfortable with presenting/training groups of employees
• General knowledge of Order Fulfillment Process
• Strong command of the English language
• Computer programming skills
Desired:
• General understanding with the Dimensional Measurement Interface Standard (DMIS)
• Certified ASQ quality engineer
• Understanding of lean manufacturing through Deere Production System
• Strong understanding/background in GD&T (Y14.5) and engineering statistics
Skills:
• Working knowledge of Coordinate Measuring Machine part programming and applications development.
• Background in Engineering (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing, blue print reading, functional part layout, statistical analysis)
• Knowledge of manufacturing and quality
Experience:
• Experience in one or more related engineering areas: industrial, production, methods, design, manufacturing and quality.
• Experience with engineering tools, systems and databases.
• Part measurement using Coordinate Measuring Machines.
